Still interested in joining the team, or for those families that are still looking to wrap up their registration, we will have the registration documents that are required.  Please plan to see a KCSC Board member at the pool during any practice time to get those documents completed.

2015 Registration NOW OPEN!!

We are happy to once again offer a window of early registration for our returning families.  What's even more exciting is KCSC has come to the 21st century and now offers online payment via credit card through PayPal!

If you are interested in early registration please visit http://www.tsaswimteam.com and update your family and swimmer information.  Once complete and ready to check out, select the PayPal option and you will be redirected to PayPal's website.  You do not need a PayPal account to complete the transaction.

Please be sure to review the 2015 handbook and print and sign all the required documents for the season.  This can be found under the "announcements" menu.  All completed and signed documents need to be returned to 1813 Glade Valley Lane by May 18, 2015.

Although we encourage you to register early, remember that we have our registration open house is for all interested swimmers whether the first year or returning for the fifth year as a Killer Whale.  It will be held at the KC Clubhouse on Sunday April 12th from 3pm - 5pm

2014 Swim Team Details

Before we know it, the days will be warm and we'll be ready to hit the pool again!  After all the ice and snow, it's hard to believe…but true!!!  Here are some details about the 2014 season.  We will kick things off the week of May 18th and celebrate another successful season on July 25th.  That's 8 weeks of swimming fun, including a time trial, 6 swim meets, and the opportunity to attend up to 5 practices a week, right in your own back yard!!

Kick off:  the week of May 18th

• Meet the Coach
• Practices Start

Practices:  Offered Monday - Thursday evenings & Saturday mornings

Time Trial:  June 14th (tentative date)

Meets:  Every Tuesday, beginning June 17th 

Awards Banquet:  July 25th (tentative date)

Early Bird Registration: 

March 13th - April 12th   

Save $5 per swimmer if you register your swimmer(s) before our Registration Open House.

Registration Open House at the Clubhouse

Sunday, April 13th 2-3:30pm 

FEES:  $85 for first two swimmers,  $50 for 3rd swimmer, and $30 for 4th swimmer.

All American Swim Supply will be present for suit fittings and purchase.  We have a great new suit selected for this year!  If you can't make it to the Open House, you can contact them at their shop inside the Triangle Aquatic Center.

Required Forms 

The necessary forms are located at the end of the KCSC Handbook, which can be accessed here (located under Announcements on the Team Website).  You will need to print, read, sign, and submit the following:

Required Waiver/Release of Liability for Legal Adult
Please submit one copy for each parent and any other family member who may serve in a volunteer capacity at meets.

Required Waiver/Release of Liability for Participation of a Minor

Please submit at least one copy that lists each swimmer in your family.

Waiver for Registered Caregiver of Minor Children

Please submit this form If a legal adult, other than a parent, will be supervising your children at practice.  If this form is not on file your child may be turned away from practice.

2014 Parent Volunteer Policy

Please list all adults that would potentially fill this volunteer requirement, as background checks are required for the safety of our swimmers.  In order for a swimmer to participate in a meet, one volunteer from his/her family will need to be present for the entirety of the event.  (NOTE:  The requirement is one volunteer per family; siblings do not necessitate additional volunteers.)

Killer Whales 2014!!

Are you a big fan of the Killer Whales?  Do you want to help guide our team's growth or shape new directions?  Join us!  As you know from our prior announcement, two board members will be rotating off at the end of this season.  In order start a new season next year, we will need two new Killer Whales to join the ranks!  Primary responsibilities of the board include the following:

Monthly meetings from February through July

Coach interviews and hiring

Selecting team suits and planning registration

Arranging and communicating plans for the season (practices, volunteers, etc)

Preparing for Meets

End of Season Awards and Celebration - organized by a committee of volunteers

A cooperative effort on the part of board members and documented processes have helped to streamline planning and organizing tremendously.  We would welcome your fresh perspective and energy on the board.  Please consider joining us and help our team have a KILLER 2014.

6/24 Update: POOL IS CLOSED / PRACTICES ARE CANCELED

The pool is now closed due to a pool issue.  All of this evening's practices are canceled.   This will have no impact on tomorrow's meet (watch for an email later this evening with meet details)!

Killer Whales volunteer at the Raleigh Ironman!

Thank you to all who were able to join us volunteering at the inaugural Raleigh Ironman on June 2nd!  The Ironman started with a 1.2 mile swim in Jordan Lake.  The athletes then left Chatham County on their bikes for the 56 mile trek into downtown Raleigh.  They finished the race with a running tour (to the tune of 13.1 miles) of Raleigh's famous landmarks to finish on Fayetteville Street.

We manned Run Station #1 which placed us in the best spot to watch the runners!  On one side of Hillsborough Street the racers were roughly one mile into their last leg of the race.  On the other side, they were less than one mile to the finish line!  It was great to cheer on such dedicated athletes when they needed it most, some after racing for in excess of 4 hours!  We cheered them on while we handed out water, ice, Powerade, and snacks.

Practices Start TONIGHT

Pool practices start tonight!  Please have your swimmer ready with their suit, towel, and goggles for the coaches promptly at the start of their swim time.

Reminder, until Jun 10th, weekday practices are Mon – Thurs:

• 5:00 – 5:30:  6 & Under Group A*
• 5:35 – 6:05:  6 & Under Group B*
• 6:10 – 6:40:  Transition Team
• 6:45 – 7:30:  7 & 8’s
• 7:35 – 8:20:  9 and Older

*There is no assignment for A or B, but we encourage you to bring your swimmer(s) to Group A practice if you are able to.  We have broken the 6 & Under practice into two-30 minute windows to accommodate the large number of swimmers.  

ALL FORMS MUST BE PRINTED/SIGNED/TURNED IN BEFORE YOUR CHILD CAN ATTEND A SWIM PRACTICE

Mellow Mushroom has graciously offered to show their support for our Killer Whales, and all we have to do is eat!

Today, Tuesday, July 24th, for lunch and dinner, if you (and your friends/guests/neighbors/random stranglers) tell the server you are there to support the Kitts Creek Swim Club, KCSC will get a portion of the proceeds. A great and easy way to show your support for our neighborhood team!!

LEARN TO SWIM MORE EFFICIENTLY!

Kitts Creek Swim Club is sponsoring an ADULT swim clinic this Sunday evening, July 15 at 7:00pm. If you are looking to become more efficient in the water or need some help with your triathlon swim training, reserve your spot today!

Fellow Kitts Creek resident and former Kitts Creek Swim Club coach, Hilary Villareal, will be teaching the clinic. She is an former UNC swimmer and experienced coach. The clinic will run from 7:00pm-8:30pm and is only $30/person*.

Please bring your goggles and swim cap (if you have one). If you need a cap, KCSC caps will be available for purchase.

100% of the proceeds will go to support the Kitts Creek Swim Club!

A Few Tips...

Our first meet is behind us, and what a great experience it was!  As we were cleaning things up last week, we came across a few items that were left behind.  Please make sure you label everything you bring with you to meets, so we will know in the future if we need to bring it home with us or not.  We also had a few people asking about ideas for good snacks during swim meets.  Here are a few helpful sites we found:

Swim Meet Packing List

When you're packing for a swim meet, don't forget the following items:

• Goggles
• Swim cap
• Swim suit
• Towel (maybe an extra)
• Cash (concessions will be available)
• Warm clothes (jacket/pants/shirt) in case it is cool
• Camera
• Bug spray
• Chairs

POOL CLOSED - No Practice 6/20/12

Upon arrival at the pool for the first practice, fecal matter was found in the pool.  It will be closed and shocked for the rest of the day and part of tomorrow.    Please check your email for details on tomorrow's practice.

Practice Update: Good News, Bad News!

The bad news is that practices have been cancelled for this evening and will resume Saturday morning. The GREAT news is that Goodberry's at Davis Dr and High House has offered to host us for a fundraising team spirit night from 6:30-8:30 TONIGHT! Since we don't have practice, we might as well have fun, learn some cheers, and still get to hang out with our awesome neighbors. Make sure to tell them you are with Kitts Creek Swim Club...and feel free to bring friends!! Hope to see you there; Coach Anndria is excited to see everyone!
